Friends, fans, people who have texted "wait, what time is the game" to a group chat of people who also do not know: I have news. The era of wondering is over. No more opening four tabs to find out who plays tonight. No more "is it on tonight or was that last night." No more squinting at a playoff graphic and asking out loud who is even still alive. STAATY just shipped two new tools, and I have been pacing around the office all week with the energy of a man who found a twenty in an old jacket.
Tool One: The Calendar, Front and Center
Go to the STAATY home page. Right there, waiting for you, is a calendar. A real one. It does not have a dentist appointment on it, which already makes it better than mine.
Five leagues live on it: the NBA, the WNBA, NCAA men's basketball, NCAA women's basketball, and UFC. Every day that has something going on gets the league logos stamped right on the square, so you can see at a glance whether tonight is a hoops night, a fight night, or the rare, majestic double feature. Flip through the months with the arrows. Hit Today if you get lost. I get lost constantly. It has been very helpful.
Now the good part. Tap any day and a box pops up with every game and every fight on it, grouped by league. Games that already happened show the final score. Games that have not happened yet just sit there looking nervous. And every single matchup is a link straight into the head to head, so you go from "who plays Thursday" to "who wins Thursday, according to the numbers" in one tap. The calendar finds the game. The head to head tells you what to expect.
Tool Two: Brackets. Plural. Four of Them.
You know that feeling when a postseason is going on and you ask "okay, who is playing who, and who is already cooked?" Nobody has the answer. Your buddy says Denver. Your buddy has not watched basketball since March. Well, the brackets have the answer, and the brackets do not have opinions, which is the whole appeal.
Each one lays the whole thing out the way a printed bracket does, with round one on the outer edges and everything squeezing inward toward the final, and the champion getting a banner across the top because winning should come with a banner. When a series is decided, the winner moves into the next round on its own. You do not have to do anything. No pencil. No eraser. No arguing about whose handwriting that is.
Don't Take My Word For It: Here's the WNBA Bracket
This is the real thing, pulled straight from the site. Every series, every winner, and the champion banner waiting at the top. To poke around the full-size version, view the WNBA bracket here.
The Bottom Line
A calendar that tells you what is on. Brackets that tell you who is left. Head to heads one tap from either. That is the whole pitch, and the formula, which I am told does not have feelings, would like it noted that it is thrilled. Go play with them. Then go tell the group chat. They have been asking what time the game is for years.
